European Parliament President says impressed by speed with which Moldova answers EU's recommendations

Chisinau, 1 June /MOLDPRES/ - We are impressed by the speed with which Moldova answered all recommendations formulated by EU and how they advance in the activity they carry out and in the fulfilment of the tasks imposed by the European Commission. European Parliament President Roberta Metsola today made statements to this effect; she came to Moldova to participate in the Summit of the European Political Community (EPC Summit).  

The official said that Moldova’s place was in the European Union and voiced hope that the negotiations on the country’s accession to EU would be launched this year.  

„We are here to prove support for Moldova, for Ukraine and for the entire European community. We have common security, energy and connectivity  challenges, which we can approach only through joint actions,’’ Roberta Metsola said.     

The European Parliament president also said that the meeting of the European leaders in Chisinau was not only a proof of support for Moldova, but also of the commitment of the European Union, which comes from the moment when Moldova became state candidate for accession to EU.
