In 2023, export of services will exceed for first time 40% of all exports of Moldova, experts say

Chisinau, August 11 /MOLDPRES/- In 2023, the export of services will exceed, for the first time, 40% of all exports of the Republic of Moldova. The information was presented today by expert in economic policies of the Institute for Development and Social Initiatives (IDIS) Viitorul Veaceslav Ioniță.

According to the expert, the most dynamic service sector, which has developed in recent years, is the IT field. At the same time, in the last two to three years, the business services sector (BSS) has seen promising growth. The expert said that this is the sector that in recent years has provided labor to the Republic of Moldova, while in other sectors of the economy the number of jobs is decreasing. Thus, in 2022, the sectors of the Moldovan economy recorded a reduction of 1.6 thousand jobs, however, the IT and BSS sector recorded an estimated increase of 2.8 thousand jobs, claims Veaceslav Ioniță.

The economic analyst states that since 2010, in the Republic of Moldova, services are exported more than they are imported. "The positive trade balance is only in the services sector. In 2023, it is believed that we will have a positive balance of 1.3 billion dollars: 2.8 will be the export of services and 1.6 billion dollars - the import of services", the quoted source concluded.

According to the expert, all the authorities need to do is to develop these two service sectors, which allow the growth of Moldovan exports, the growth of jobs in the country and higher salaries than the national average.
