Chisinau, 7 November /MOLDPRES/ - Moldova’s parliament is looking for new members of the Plenum of the Competition Council, who are to be appointed to office immediately after the expiration of the mandates of three members who are in office now on 30 November 2023. The head of the parliament’s commission for economy, budget and finances, Radu Marian, has made statements to this effect.

According to the quoted source, the Competition Council is a key institution of the state and its role is to provide equal rules of game in the economy. ‘’The competition sector is also an essential pillar of the European Union’s existence and this field will be one of the most important chapters of negotiations in the process of accession to the European Union. It is clear that the activity and performance of this institution must be improved – the process of accession to EU itself depends on this,’’ Marian noted.

The Competition Law stipulates that the following person can be appointed to the office of member of the Plenum of the Competition Council: who holds Moldova’s citizenship; has higher education, professional competence, a good reputation; is not banned from holding a public office; has not have, in the last five years, inscriptions on the negative result of the professional integrity test in the record on professional integrity; has a length of service of at least ten years in the economic, competition or legal sectors.
