Moldovan Central Electoral Commission: contenders competing in runoff election can make electoral agitation till 17 November

Chisinau, 7 November /MOLDPRES/ - The Central Electoral Commission (CEC) today made more specifications on the peculiarities of the holding of the electoral campaign by the candidates for the office of mayor, who will compete for these positions in the runoff election. CEC said that the electoral agitation can be made till 17 November.    

According to CEC, the candidates who will compete in the runoff election can carry out electoral campaign, after the date of the runoff election is established under a decision by the Central Electoral Commission.

CEC said that, during the runoff election too, the candidates are banned from using administrative resources, public equipment, means and assets. The public authorities and the assimilated ones cannot give electoral contenders public assets or other favours, but on contract basis, in conditions of equality.    

The electoral competitors are further banned from organizing concerts, contests or demonstrations on purpose of political promotion. The electoral contenders can organize meetings with voters and the local public administration authorities are obliged to ensure possibility of holding such meetings in equal terms and conditions.
