Chisinau, 7 November /MOLDPRES/ - The actions undertaken by the cabinet to support the agricultural sector and the solutions proposed by the authorities to overcome the challenges dealing with the transit of cereals from Moldova have been discussed at a meeting of Prime Minister Dorin Recean with representatives of the associations in the cereals sector. Attending the event were decision-makers of the Agriculture Ministry and the Agency of Intervention and Payments for Agriculture (AIPA), the government’s communication and protocol department reported.

The PM said that, to back the farmers from Moldova and solve, gradually, the problems accumulated, the cabinet this year had allocated more than 1.8 billion lei through the subsidization fund. At the same time, AIPA has returned 1.5 billion lei so far.

„We continue improving the road and railway infrastructure, we optimize the logistics, prepare the launch of a system of relieving the customs checkpoints and we create an electronic register for the export of cereals. In 2024, we will increase the allocations for farmers. At the same time, our priority is to enhance the productivity of our farmers, through attraction of investments for the agriculture’s industrialization. We will come up with a new concept for the development of the agricultural sector; yet, till then, we will look for solutions to access European funds to back the farmers,’’ Prime Minister Dorin Recean said.

According to the PM, the government’s effort will continue also in order to improve the transit infrastructure. In the near future, a new system will be launched, which will allow relieving the flow at the border and optimizing the process from the logistic viewpoint.

Thus, car parks will be created at the entrance into Moldova, where the trucks will stand till the approximate time of crossing the border. The process will be transparent, with the registration on online platform in the electronic register and the trucks from Ukraine will have a separate route, which will allow avoiding the agglomeration at the customs checkpoints of Moldova.
