Film from Moldova gets three prizes at international festival in USA

Chisinau, 21 November /MOLDPRES/ - The premiere of the film titled, Omul fără linia vieții (The Man without Life Line) took place in the USA, at the Hollywood Florida Film Festival, held on 11-18 November. The movie was screened at Regal Oak Cinema and got three prizes: Best Feature Film, Best Director of the Feature Film and Best Actor of the Feature Film - Rares Andrici,  

On this occasion, the film’s director, Adriana Vasilcov, said that she was expecting the end of the screening quite out. ‘’As for prizes, I did not think we would be winners till the last second. This is something magic,’’ Adriana Vasilcov added.     

The full-length film is based on real deeds and tells the life story of Ionel Sporea, a Romanian who invented an automatic launcher of ping-pong balls. The young man becomes a start in the sport world, but only he was imprisoned, being accused of high treason. He was released as late as after the death of Ceausescu and ruled to emigrate to Canada. Thus, the invention which was supposed to make him rich and famous deprived him of identify and success. The new production has at its basis the autobiographic novel of Ionel Sporea titled, Beyond Love and Hatred. In the context, Romanian actress Maia Morgenstern said that this film somehow was telling, in a subtle way and honestly, about the feeling of guilt, things which are hard for us to accept regarding ourselves, as the others are always guilty. ‘’This is a kind of making peace beyond generations for the sake of the coming ones,’’ Maia Morgenstern said.     

The cast includes well-known actors from Moldova and Romania, such as Maia Morgenstern, Eugenia Serban, Carmen Tanase, Rares Andrici, Dana Ciobanu, Petru Oistric, Mihaela Oistric, Sergiu Finiti and Vasile Zubcu. The film will be screened in movie theatres as of 30 November.
