Ministry of Education proposes to double payment for authors of new textbooks

Chisinau, 26 Jan. /MOLDPRES/ - The Ministry of Education and Research (MEC) proposes doubling the payment for authors of new textbooks, as well as guaranteed remuneration for authors of the best school textbooks. The ministry initiated a project in this regard.

The new changes aim to encourage the involvement of the most qualified and experienced teaching staff in the country in the textbook development process.

The project completes the list of existing initiatives to improve the process of developing and purchasing school textbooks. Among them is the Parliament's approval of the amendments to the Law on Public Procurement, which stipulates that in the process of selecting textbooks the quality of the content will have a weight of up to 70%, compared to the 40% weight applied until now.

The MEC mentioned that starting from 2022, the purchase of textbooks is carried out in accordance with a new Regulation regarding the selection and purchase of school textbooks. 

In the next period, a new tender will be announced for the purchase of 34 titles of school textbooks.
