Regional Development Agencies' role to increase with approach to European Union

Chisinau, February 16 /MOLDPRES/- The Regional Development Agencies' role will increase with the approach to the European Union, Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development Andrei Spînu said. He paid a working visit to the Regional Development Agency (ADR) to assess regional development projects and cooperation with local authorities in the center of the country.
The Minister encouraged the ADR Center team to intensify collaboration activities with potential beneficiaries of regional and local development programs and projects, in the context of the funding opportunities planned for the current year. The official also emphasized that providing water and sewerage to localities is a zero priority at the national level.
The official visited the construction site in the city of Ialoveni, where the urban revitalization project is being implemented, which provides for the construction and arrangement of a Green Theater. The works within this project are financially supported by the National Regional and Local Development Fund and the beneficiary's contribution. The total value of the planned works is estimated at around 11 million lei and represents an initiative for urban revitalization and development of the infrastructure of public spaces in the old sector of the city of Ialoveni.
For 2024, 123 million lei (6.15 million euros) have been allocated from the National Regional and Local Development Fund for 21 regional and urban revitalization projects to be carried out in the central area of the country.
