Moldovan Anticorruption Prosecutor's Office to appeal sentence on discharge of former Prosecutor General

Chisinau, 28 February /MOLDPRES/ - The Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office (PA) today informed that it would appeal the sentence on discharge of the former Prosecutor General, Alexandr Stoianoglo. He was charged with the committing of the offence of abuse of office, in complicity with the former head of the human resources section of the Prosecutor General’s Office (PG).    

According to PA, the criminal file against the former PG head was opened by a prosecutor nominated by CSP in October 2021.

According to the materials, the former prosecutor general and his former underling  approved the providing of an allowance at the dismissal of a prosecutor from office, even if the latter had the status of suspect in a cause. Thus, they ordered the payment of the dismissal allowance worth163, 990.13 lei (8 459 euro).  

Today, the judges of the Chisinau Court discharged Stoianoglo and his underling. The sentence will be appealed at the Chisinau Court of Appeal in a 15-day period.
