Chisinau, 26 January /MOLDPRES/- On 6 October we will celebrate 100 years of the establishment of the Mihai Eminescu National Theater with the status of national theater.

The events on this occasion will be held under the aegis of President Maia Sandu.

TNME director Petru Hadârcă, People's Artist, said that at the beginning of the 20th century, neither radio nor television had yet entered people's homes. The cinema was just beginning to conquer public space. At the beginning of the 20th century, the theater meant everything: it was a place where people were attracted like a magnet, they came for fun and art, to meet and socialize, to find out news and to get an education.

The idea of creating a theater in Romanian was supported especially by the deputies of the Moldovan Bloc, and by other intellectuals: P. Erhan, V. Cijevski, I. Buzdugan, A. Crihan, V. Gafencu, N. Bosie-Codreanu, N. Bivol, E. Sinicliu, Gh. Buruiană, E. Alistar and T. Ioncu.

Theater is an art of emotions and intelligence that has the power to awaken spirits and unite hearts ", he said.
