National Literature Museum of Moldova inaugurates exhibition dedicated to magazine' s anniversary
Chisinau, 10 February /MOLDPRES/ - An anniversary exhibition titled, An answer to the call of the time. The magazine, Viața Basarabiei (The Life of Bessarabia), 90 years since foundation, was inaugurated at the Mihail Kogalniceanu National Literature Museum today.
Attending the event were Culture Minister of Moldova Sergiu Prodan, his Romanian counterpart Lucian Damascanu, the head of the Moldovan Writers’ Union, Teo Chiriac, the director of the Mihai Eminescu Romanian Cultural Institute in Chisinau, Catalin Bordeianu, the director of The Life of Bessarabia magazine, new series, academician Mihai Cimpoi, university professors Anatol Petrencu and Alexandru Burlacu, culture and art people.
Culture Minister Sergiu Prodan said that, in fact, the 115th anniversary of the appearance of the Life of Bessarabia magazine was marked today. At the same time, the official said that, at a request by a group of MPs, a legislative initiative would be made for declaring the day of 15 February as Reading Day in Moldova. In his greeting message, Culture Minister of Romania Lucian Damascanu highly appreciated the fight of the residents from Moldova for the Romanian language and Latin script, stressing that we have a single culture – the Romanian culture.
