Workshop for manufacturing March 1 trinkets held at Chisinau-based museum
Chisinau, 23 February /MOLDPRES/ - About 200 children, teenagers and adults from various settlements of Moldova, including Ukrainian refugees, today participated in a workshop for manufacturing Martisors (March 1 trinkets), held at the National Ethnography and Natural History Museum (MNEIN).
An artistic programme, dedicated to the Dragobete holiday (Day for Lovers), was presented here as well.
According to MNEIN director Petru Vicol, these events represent an opportunity to promote the Moldovan ancestors’ traditions on Dragobete and to turn to account the talent of young folk music singers.
”The manufacturing of Martisors has the goal to revive the practices related to the March 1 day, registered in UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by Moldova, Romania, North Macedonia and Bulgaria on 6 December 2017, proving their importance in the world cultural treasure,’’ Petru Vicol said.
