Chisinau, 8 January /MOLDPRES/ - The Energocom stock company has informed about an increased consumption of electric energy for 9 January 2025. The volume will be covered by the local production and imports.

The enterprise reserved the commercial capacity at the border with Romania, in order to cover the consumption of electric energy of the right bank of Dniester for 9 January.

„On the first working day after the holidays, a consumption of electricity by 15 per cent higher is forecast against the day before, 8 January, but a smaller quantity than on 3 January, also working day,’’ Energocom said.

Given that the weather is pretty warm outdoors, the heating stations from Chisinau and Balti will produce less electric energy; instead, a slight increase in the quantity of renewable energy is anticipated. Thus, on 9 January, besides the local production, the rest of the electricity will be purchased from import and on exchange.

Starting from 1 January this year, the right bank of Dniester has no longer been receiving electric energy from the Kuchurgan power station, after the Russian giant Gazprom ceased the deliveries of natural gas to Moldova.

In these conditions, the consumption is covered from domestic sources, such as the Chisinau and Balti heating stations, Costesti hydro-electric power station, renewable sources, the import under bilateral contracts from Romania and procurements from the electric energy exchange of Romania, managed by the OPCOM stock company.
