Experts from Moldova, Ukraine discuss placement of bridge between two countries
Chisinau, 5 July /MOLDPRES/ - Technical consultations on the implementation of a project on the construction of the cross-border bridge across the Dniester river, placed between the Cosauti village in Moldova and Yampil town (Ukraine), took place in Cosauti, northern Soroca district, the State Administration of Roads (ASD) has reported.
According to the institution, at the meeting, designing companies from Ukraine and Moldova unveiled more variants of establishing the position of placement of the road bridge across the Dniester river, including the roads of access to it.
„The sides visited three potential locations for the placement of the bridge across the Dniester river in the Cosauti settlement and established its preliminary variant. The bridge across the Dniester river, placed between Cosauti and Yampil, will have a length of about 641 metres, two traffic lanes, two safety lanes, two bicycle lanes, two sidewalks and a scaffold bridge with a length of about 667 metres on the Ukrainian side,’’ ASD said.
Also, the access road with a length of 7 km is scheduled to be nearby the settlements of Cosauti and Iorjnita, reaching the Soroca city’s bypass road. This road will provide connection between the bridge across the Dniester and the national road R14.1 R14 – Cosauti – border with Ukraine and will be constructed with Moldova’s financial means.
The road across the Dniester river is of strategic importance for Moldova. It will provide a corridor of transiting Moldova to the European Union and will also considerably shorten the time for movement from Chisinau to Kiev. The works for construction of the bridge across the Dniester river will be carried out with financial means of Ukraine.
