Gas prices falling
Citizens will pay less for natural gas. The tariff is reduced by 2.15 lei, so that one cubic meter of gas will cost 13.35 lei, excluding VAT, compared to the current price of 15.50 lei. National Agency for Energy Regulation (ANRE) approved the decision today.
VAT is added to the regulated tariff, which means that the final gas price will be 14.42 lei per cubic meter of gas, compared to 16.74 lei (including VAT) at present, a difference of 2.32 lei.
The final tariff approved by ANRE is lower than the one requested by Energocom, which had asked for a price of 14.12 lei, excluding VAT, per cubic meter of gas.
ANRE emphasized that the tariff drop is driven by several objective factors, including a decrease in the average annual gas purchase price.
The decision to reduce the tariff will enter into force upon the publication in the Official Journal of the Republic of Moldova.
The last change in natural gas tariffs paid by end consumers was approved in late November 2024.
In mid-September 2025, Energocom announced that the average purchase price for the 2025–2026 gas year is forecast at around 38.5 EUR/MWh (~410 EUR/1000 m3), an amount that also includes the transport cost up to Moldova virtual trading point (VTP).
Since 1 September 2025, Energocom has taken over the role of supplier with public service obligations and has been supplying natural gas to over 800,000 consumers.
