Chisinau, 27 March /MOLDPRES/ - The Energocom stock company  in January-March 2023 sold about 275 million cubic metres of natural gas to the Moldovagaz stock company at a weighted average price of 1,095 dollars for 1,000 cubic metres of gas (without value added tax).

Energocom said that ‘’the price provided was lower than the one for which Gazprom supplied gas to Moldova – 1,107 dollars/1,000 cubic metres (without VAT).’’ The gas sold by Energocom came from strategic stocks, purchased starting from the last autumn, at the exchange prices from that period. ‘’We acted just as the entire Europe did at that time, through procurements of stocks, in order to be prepared for the energy crisis, the prices being comparable or lower than in more countries,’’ Energocom noted.

The acting director of the Energocom stock company, Victor Bânzari, said that, at present, decision-makers analyzed the bids on markets, in order to start purchasing gas again at more advantageous prices as compared to the ones from the cold period. The quotations at the exchange are of reference and the transport, operational and logistic costs are added to them.

The Energocom stock company was empowered, under instructions by the Commission for Emergency Situations (CSE), to make stocks of gas and to subsequently sell them to the Moldovagaz company.

In March this year, the price of the gas bought by Moldovagaz from Gazprom is of 1,011.73 dollars for 1,000 cubic metres, against 1,054 dollars in last February and 1,230 dollars in January 2023.
