Authorities not to allow opening of polling stations in kindergartens
Chisinau, 21 September /MOLDPRES/- The authorities are working to organize the presidential elections on 1 November, and all resources are allocated. Ways are identified so that all citizens can exercise their right to vote, including those in the diaspora. However, the organization of polling stations in kindergartens will be prohibited. Prime Minister Ion Chicu made the statement today.
He said that the voting will be organized in schools, but with the extension of the students' vacation. Thus, on 2 November disinfection will be performed in the schools where polling stations will be located. "Almost 40% of the polling stations are located in schools and kindergartens. In Chisinau alone, there are 32 polling stations located in kindergartens. The Central Electoral Commission and the state authorities identify other spaces for these polling stations," he said.
The government will earmark money both for disinfectants and the entire organization of elections under pandemic. "We are working to ensure that all citizens can exercise this constitutional right, including those who are not in Moldova, ie diaspora. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration is working to identify polling stations abroad, but due to the pandemic, in several states there are difficulties in opening polling stations ", he concluded.
