Book signed by deputy parliament speaker launched in Moldovan capital
Chisinau, 17 January /MOLDPRES/ - Deputy Parliament Speaker Mihail Popsoi today launched a book titled, „Europenizare versus democratizare în Georgia, Moldova și Ucraina. Provocări interne și externe pentru consolidarea democratică” (Europeanization versus Democratization in Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine. Internal and external challenges for democratic consolidation). The launch event was hosted by the parliament.
According to the parliament’s communication and public relations department, attending the launch event were Deputy PM for Reintegration Oleg Serebrian, Foreign Affairs and European Integration Minister Nicu Popescu, as well as experts in the field.
„From the academic viewpoint, I tried to analyze all risks, vulnerabilities of the concerned countries from the democratic and Europeanization perspective. Obviously, we know quite well the risk factors; yet, neither me nor scientists much more experienced than me were able to foresee the consequences of those bad influence situations through which we have gone during all these years,’’ Deputy Parliament Speaker Mihail Popsoi said.
Attending the event, the deputy head of the parliament’s commission for culture, education, research, youth, sport and mass media, Virgiliu Paslariuc, said that, in the book, the author had put emphasis on those internal and external challenges which were called democratic consolidation. ‘’The work had been written before the events were catalyzed on 24 February. It is focused in such a way that it covers the most sensitive areas: economic, legal, political, perspectives,’’ Paslariuc noted.
The aforementioned book is an academic one, with which Deputy Parliament Speaker Mihail Popsoi got the title of PhD in political sciences at the Degli Studi di Milano University, Italy.
The book was published in English and is to appear in Romanian as well.
