European Parliament President admits Moldova to start negotiations on accession to EU in 2023
Chisinau, 1 June /MOLDPRES/ - European Parliament President Roberta Metsola admits that Moldova might start the negotiations on accession to the European Union this year. The official expressed her position in Chisinau today, following the finishing of the Summit of European Political Community, hosted by Moldova.
„Each country has its road, but as far as the time is concerned, let us start the negotiations on accession this year,’’ Roberta Metsola said.
The official noted that Moldova’s place was in EU and the European Parliament was the first institution which said without hesitation that Moldova must be state candidate for accession to EU. ‘’We are impressed by the procedure and the process carried out so far, by all steps undertaken by the Chisinau authorities on the European way,’’ Roberta Metsola stressed.
The European parliament president also said that Moldova must continue the reforms in more sectors and the county’s partners should support Moldova overcome the difficulties it faces.
