Holy Fire to be brought to Moldova this year too
The Holy Fire from Jerusalem will be brought to on April 19 evening for the 23rd year in a row. The Fire, considered a miracle that occurs annually on Holy Saturday at the Tomb of the Lord in Jerusalem, will be distributed to Orthodox believers throughout the country, through the care of the two Metropolitan Sees.
On 19 April evening, the Metropolitan See of Chisinau and All Moldova will bring the Holy Fire to the square of the Birth of God Metropolitan Cathedral from Chisinau at about 20:00.
The Metropolitan See of Bessarabia will receive the Holy Fire through delegations led by Father Archimandrite Teofil Anastasaie, Superior of the Patriarchal Settlements in the Holy Land.
It will arrive at the Chisinau International Airport at about 21:00, being welcomed by His Eminence Father Petru, Metropolitan of Bessarabia, along with other hierarchs and clergymen from the three dioceses subordinated to the Metropolis.
‘’With deep gratitude to God and spiritual joy, we announce that this year too, as per the blessed tradition, the Holy Light from Jerusalem will be offered to all believers in the Metropolitan See of Bessarabia on Easter night, as a sign of Christ's victory over death and the living communion in the light of Resurrection,’’ reads a statement issued by the Metropolitan See of Bessarabia.
The ceremony of bringing the Holy Fire from Jerusalem is a deeply symbolic moment for all Orthodox Christians and takes place every year on Holy Saturday, within a unique ritual officiated at the Church of the Holy Sepulcher. The Fire is considered a manifestation of divine grace and is eagerly and devoutly awaited by millions of believers around the world.
