Chisinau, 15 Sep. /MOLDPRES/- Nobel Prize laureate, professor Randy Schekman from the University of California/Berkeley, United States of America, a world-renowned scientist in medicine will pay a visit to our country on September 18-22.
Randy Schekman will give public lecture "My career path: from pond scum to Stockholm" on September 18, starting at 2 p.m., at the Academy of Sciences of Moldova (AȘM).
The scientist will have several meetings with representatives of the scientific community from the Republic of Moldova, including the one from the "Nicolae Testemițanu" University of Medicine and Pharmacy and the Technical University of Moldova. The professor will participate in the 6th edition of the International Conference in the Nanotechnologies and Biomedical Engineering.
Randy Schekman is a professor at the University of California/Berkeley, USA, making outstanding contributions to the basic research in cytology. For the discovery of the mechanism that regulates traffic through cell membranes, a process by which cells organize their activity and communicate with the environment, he was recognized with numerous prestigious awards, including the Nobel Prize in 2013. On the Nobel Prize portal, Professor Randy Schekman, in his biography, he referred to his Bessarabian genealogical roots.
