Mobile Resuscitation and Discharge Service inaugurated in Cahul

Chisinau, 9 September /MOLDPRES/- In Cahul, South Mobile Resuscitation and Discharge Service was launched on 8 September during a solemn ceremony attended by several officials.

Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Internal Affairs Andrei Nastase said that the SMURD SUD project will serve three districts in the south of the Republic of Moldova - Cahul, Cantemir and Taraclia. It will help increase efficiency and reduce reaction times, by implementing an integrated approach to emergencies.

Attending the event was also Secretary of State of the Romanian Ministry of Internal Affairs Raed Arafat, who congratulated the authorities, rescuers and firemen on this beautiful achievement, noting that Moldova’s experience is an example worth following.

The head of the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (IGSU), Major-General Mihail Harabagiu, said that rescuers and firemen will be on duty to provide qualified assistance in the southern part of the country by successfully implementing the Mobile Resuscitation and Discharge Service in Cahul.

According to IGSU, since the launch of SMURD in the Republic of Moldova, there have been more than 13,000 land interventions in the country and 57 aero-medical interventions. The service began operating in autumn 2014.
