Platoon of Moldova's peacekeeping Battalion 22 trains at international exercise

Chisinau, 29 June /MOLDPRES/ - A National Army’s contingent on 28 June -10 July participates in the multinational exercise Sea Breeze 2021, held at an a training centre from the Kherson region of Ukraine.     

According to Defence Minister Victor Gaiciuc, a platoon of servicemen of the peacekeeping Battalion 22, as well as five units of HMMWV-type technology of the National Army was detached to the exercises. They will be trained along with military from the armies of the United States, Ukraine and Georgia.       

Contacted by MOLDPRES, Victor Gaiciuc said that the main goal of the exercise was to enhance the inter-operability of the multinational troops in peacekeeping operations. ‘’ For our servicemen, the experience of the colleagues from other armies is quite important and useful. I want to say that Moldova is a neutral country and this status does not imply full isolation from the foreign partners. The participation of our military in the Sea Breeze-2021 international exercise was established in the National Army’s training plan for this year and is carried out in accordance with the agreements on cooperation signed with foreign partners,’’ Gaiciuc noted.    

The National Army has been detaching Moldovan servicemen to the concerned exercise since 2007.
