Chisinau, 28 June /MOLDPRES/ - Drivers who infringe the traffic regulations might be sanctioned tougher. The parliament’s commission for national security, defence and public order today approved a draft law to this end.

The draft’s authors suggest the suspension of the right to drive transport means for a period from 30 days up to 180 days, if drivers exceed the speed limit by over 40 km/hour.

The owners of transport means who refuse or evade communicating the identity of person, whom the driving of the transport means was entrusted and infringed the traffic regulations, might be sanctioned under the Contravention Code too.

Another provision of the document is the banning of the registration and periodical technical inspection of vehicles, if they have a history of infringements and the fulfillment of the contravention sanction under the final decision on the contravention cause is active.

The drivers who fail to observe the road marking might get only a warning, which is actually an option besides the fine.

The draft law was worked out by the Interior Ministry and will be considered in the parliament’s plenum in the first reading.
