Speaker meets new Romanian ambassador to Moldova

Chisinau, Aug. 1 /MOLDPRES/- Speaker Igor Grosu had a meeting today with new ambassador of Romania to the Republic of Moldova Cristian-Leon Țurcanu, the parluiament's communication and public relations department has reported.

The officials discussed the energy crisis and the difficult geopolitical situation, which has hit the entire region hard. In this context, the President of the Parliament thanked Ambassador Cristian-Leon Țurcanu for the constant support offered by Romania, especially in cooperation in the field of energy security.

The speaker reiterated that the Republic of Moldova will need Romania's experience and help in the process of harmonizing national legislation with the Community acquis. At the same time, Grosu greatly appreciated the essential contribution that Romania had in the process of obtaining the status of a candidate country for the Republic of Moldova to join the EU.

The discussions also referred to the organization of the second joint meeting of the Parliaments of the Republic of Moldova and Romania. "We will focus on concrete and tangible projects, which we can implement promptly. I am sure that Mr. Ambassador Țurcanu will have a prodigious mandate in Chisinau and I have assured him of all the support in strengthening the bilateral relationship of our countries", he said.
