Chisinau, 23 Jan. /MOLDPRES/- Patients needing urgent surgical interventions with the indication of antimicrobial therapy at Timofei Moșneaga Republican Clinical Hospital will be able to do detailed analyzes at the microbiological laboratory of the National Agency for Public Health (ANSP).

The head of the Information and Communication Service of the ANSP, Olesea Croitor, said that the decision to collaborate on the prevention and control of antimicrobial resistance and to provide support on the laboratory diagnostic component in the implementation of the Program for the rational use of antimicrobials (the Antimicrobial Stewardship Program) was taken by the management of the ANSP at a meeting with the management of the IMSP Republican Clinical Hospital Timofei Moșneaga.

The dialogue focused on the efficiency of the use of advanced technologies available to the microbiological laboratory of the ANSP to provide laboratory services to patients who require urgent interventions with the indication of antimicrobial therapy from Timofei Moșneaga. The collaboration between the two institutions would allow obtaining accurate, fast laboratory results with the correct and prudent use of antimicrobial preparations.

The ANSP Microbiological Laboratory has one of the most efficient rapid identification systems of microorganisms called VITEK MS. This technology has revolutionized microbial identification, being faster, more accurate and less expensive than conventional biochemical tests. The results of the analyzes from this laboratory allow the establishment of a correct diagnosis of infectious diseases and the fight against antimicrobial resistance.
