Funding mechanism of cultural institutions to be changed
Chisinau, 26 Jan. /MOLDPRES/- In 2023 the Ministry of Culture (MC) is going to reform the activity of libraries and the way of financing cultural institutions. The book editing mechanism will also be rethought. The priorities were set out at the public consultations of the Government's Action Plan for 2023.
"In 2023, we propose a lot of reforms to unlock the activity in culture and increase the remuneration of people in culture. Reorganizations are imminent, as the inherited system is rigid and does not allow flexibility, it does not motivate artists, people of culture to advance, to take on new initiatives and projects, to create competitive cultural products", said Minister of Culture Sergiu Prodan.
At the same time, the authorities are proposing to reform the system of record of mobile cultural assets, the intervention being necessary to no longer accept cases of confiscation of musical instruments from notorious performers.
Among the government's goals are the adoption of the Strategy for culture and heritage - 2030, the approval of the Creative Moldova National Program, the establishment of the Culture Fund and the creation of a new management system, on the one hand, and a mechanism for subsidizing subordinate institutions, on the other. Also, the Cinematography Fund and Register, as well as the National Cinematheque are to be created to save and rehabilitate the Film Archive, part of the national heritage. Moldova Film and Moldcinema will be merged, the newly created institution returning to the Ministry of Culture.
