Passenger traffic at Chisinau International Airport almost double in recent years

The passenger traffic at the Chisinau International Airport has almost doubled in recent years, from 2.25 million passengers served in 2022, to 4.14 million in 2024. The airport administration aims to reach a new record of 5 million passengers this year.

“The Chisinau International Airport continues to grow. The figures speak for themselves: in just two years, passenger traffic has almost doubled: 2022 – 2.25 million passengers; 2023 – 2.83 million passengers; 2024 – 4.14 million passengers (+46 per cent as compared to 2023). In 2025, we estimate over 5 million passengers,” said Secretary of State of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development (MIDR) Mircea Pascaluta.

The official said that this growth was not accidental, but is the result of sustained efforts and the trust of passengers and airline operators. “We are modernizing the infrastructure, digitizing services and raising standards to provide a travel experience at the international level,” concluded the Secretary of State of MIDR.

According to the airport’s administration, growth is supported by the expansion of the route network and the number of airlines: from 20 in 2022, to 33 in 2024.

In January this year, the airport served over 330,000 passengers, up 62% compared to the same period of 2023.

This year, the flight network of the Chisinau International Airport will be extended with ten new destinations. These are Bremen, Alicante, Thessaloniki, Palma de Mallorca, Katowice, Copenhagen, Lyon, Paris Orly, Turin and Wroclaw.
