An audit mission from the General Administration of Customs of the People’s Republic of China (GACC) is assessing, from November 1 to 6, the phytosanitary conditions in the Republic of Moldova for exporting grape seeds to the Chinese market. The visit represents a necessary stage in examining the requirements for granting this product access to the Chinese market.

According to the National Food Safety Agency (ANSA), three Chinese experts are participating in the mission and are examining the national phytosanitary control system. Discussions with the institution’s specialists focus on the regulatory framework, official inspection and phytosanitary quarantine procedures, as well as measures to prevent and control harmful organisms.

The program includes audit visits to an economic operator, where the experts will assess production processes, documentation, traceability, and the quality management system. The delegation will also visit the laboratories of the National Center for Animal, Plant Health and Food Safety to examine activities relevant to phytosanitary control.

ANSA notes that the assessment is part of efforts to facilitate access for Moldovan agri-food products to foreign markets. Access for grape seeds to the Chinese market could provide local producers and processors with additional opportunities to capitalize on this product and diversify their export destinations.

The mission’s conclusions will contribute to determining the next steps in examining phytosanitary requirements for exporting grape seeds to the People’s Republic of China.
