For first time Moldova obtained right to export processed poultry meat, eggs to EU
Chisinau, March 9. /MOLDPRES/- Today, March 9, 2023, the amendments to Commission Implementing Regulations (EU) 2021/404 and (EU) 2021/405 of March 24, 2021 were published, through which the Republic of Moldova obtained, for the first time, the right to export to the EU processed poultry meat and eggs of category A (for consumption), the government's communication and protocol department has reported.
The European Commission's decision is a very important one and will contribute to the achievement of a priority national objective - the diversification of markets for poultry producers from the Republic of Moldova. At the same time, the decision demonstrates that the national system of official control, implemented by the National Agency for Food Safety is recognized by the European Union.
The process of obtaining the right to export to the EU the products from the Republic of Moldova was a complex and long-lasting one, being preceded by an extensive exchange of information and technical consultations, audit missions both online and with presence of European experts in Moldova, who examined the compliance of the national system in a three-dimensional way, including the capacities of ANSA at the central and territorial level and the degree of compliance of economic agents with the EU requirements.
Currently, in the Republic of Moldova, there are 43 poultry breeding units and about 227 thousand individual poultry breeding households, in which a total of about 6 million birds are raised.
The National Agency for Food Safety will continue to evaluate the eligibility of companies in the poultry sector that intend to export to the European Union market, in order to comply with the requirements necessary to export their products to the EU member states.
