Moldovan foreign affairs ministry to consult with Diaspora on geographical distribution of polling stations at parliamentary elections
Chisinau, 1 May /MOLDPRES/ - The Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry (MAEIE) has hosted a videoconference with the heads of the diplomatic and consular missions on the subject of preparatory measures as to the organization of the snap parliamentary elections, scheduled for 11 July 2021, the MAEIE press service has reported.
At the meeting, secretary general Eugeniu Revenco said that the Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry, through the diplomatic missions, would start the procedure of consulting the Diaspora as to the geographical distribution of the polling stations at the snap parliamentary elections.
On the immediate next period, the diplomatic service will start collecting data from the authorities of the residence countries about the number of Moldovan citizens settled abroad, sanitary protection measures applicable at the polling stations from abroad and the measures adopted by the authorities of the residence state in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, including in the context of the movement to/from the polling station.
Concomitantly, the heads of missions were presented the information published by the Central Electoral Commission (CEC) on the preliminary registration, which can be made by the Moldovan citizens with right to vote who are abroad and who are set to vote at the snap parliamentary polls due on 11 July 2021. It is worth mentioning that the preliminary registration has an informative character and does not impose to the voters certain obligations. In the context, the foreign affairs ministry requested the organization of informative sessions and consultations with the associations of Moldovans’ communities abroad, including for the good organization of the process in the next summer.
The Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry recommends that the Moldovan citizens consult the official information, which is to be available in the section dedicated to the snap parliamentary elections due this year, including the official sources managed by the Central Electoral Commission: www.cec.md and www.alegator.md.
In the end, MAEIE reminds that, in the near future, decision-makers are to make available the guide of the voter from abroad, which will contain information on the conditions of exercising the right to vote at the polling station, documents needed for voting, voting procedure, schedule of the polling stations and specific sanitary safety measures adopted in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as a column of frequent questions, which provides answers to the most frequent questions put by Moldovan citizens as to the exercising of the right to vote.
