Denmark to back Moldova in process of management of refugees' flow
Chisinau, 11 March /MOLDPRES/ - Denmark will support Moldova in the process of management of the refugees’ flow. Foreign Affairs Minister of Denmark Jeppe Kofod has made statements to this effect at a joint conference with Foreign Affairs and European Integration Minister Nicu Popescu.
The Moldovan diplomacy head said that, during the discussions, he reiterated the needs of Moldova to continue to ensure the reception of the flow of refugees, as well as to ensure the public order and the health system.
Popescu specified that more than 309,000 refugees had entered Moldova since the beginning of the war in Ukraine. Presently, over 131,000 foreign citizens are in Moldova, of whom 47,000 are minors. ‘’We cannot remain indifferent to the tragedy from Ukraine. We will continue helping the Ukrainian citizens who are on the territory of our country or want to transit it and in this process, we rely on the concrete support of Denmark and of the European Union,’’ Nicu Popescu noted.
Foreign Affairs Minister of Denmark Jeppe Kofod reiterated that his country admired Moldova’s effort in the process of management of refugees and would come up with support. ‘’Denmark expresses support for its partners and condemns the war started by Putin, which is an attempt upon the European security. I am impressed by the solidarity proved by Moldova. Denmark will continue efforts to cease the war from Ukraine and I want to assure you that the sanctions against Russia will continue till it withdraws from Ukraine,’’ the official said.
