Discover Moldova with #MOLDPRES: "SânzIEne Unghenene" on Delia Lake Island, a holiday uniting around traditions
The Delia Lake Island in the city of Ungheni has turned into a fairy tale corner last Sunday, where traditional costumes, authentic traditions and community spirit found their home.
Hundreds of Ungheni residents participated in "SânzIEne Unghenene" - a celebration dedicated to Romanian identity values, organized with love by the Ungheni Palace of Culture.
The event celebrated the beauty of the Romanian blouse and ancestral customs, in a warm atmosphere enlivened by songs, dances, craft workshops, and local artisan exhibitions. Participants, dressed in meticulously embroidered traditional blouses and with flowers in their hair, created a lively picture of the national cultural heritage.
Artistic moments presented by local ensembles and performers from the area completed the charm of the day, and the people present enjoyed every moment spent together against the natural backdrop of the lake and summer in full bloom.
"SânzIEne Unghenene" was not just a celebration of the blouse, but a true plea for preserving traditions and passing them on to new generations. The emotion, color, and collective joy proved that the spirit of the community is alive and that traditions unite us more than ever.
The Ungheni Palace of Culture promises that this celebration will become a beautiful annual tradition, increasingly rich and close to people's hearts.
In the midst of nature, between water and sun, Delia Lake provided not only a picturesque setting, but also a fairy tale atmosphere for a day dedicated to the Romanian soul.
Delia Lake – an oasis of peace, culture, and community
Located in the central part of the Ungheni city, Delia Lake is one of the city's most beloved recreational areas. With its generous water surface, surrounded by green spaces and arranged with walking paths, gazebos and rest areas, the lake has become a meeting point for young people, families and nature lovers.
In recent years, the Delia Lake area has undergone significant revitalization, becoming not just a leisure spot, but also a stage for cultural and social events. The island arranged in the middle of the lake is a unique space, offering the perfect setting for festivals, concerts, exhibitions and traditional celebrations – as was the case with "SânzIEne Unghenene".
For the local community, Delia Lake represents more than a green space: it is a city symbol that unites generations and offers a peaceful refuge in the midst of urban hustle and bustle. At the same time, the lake has significant tourism potential, and local authorities are constantly exploring solutions for sustainable use of this natural resource.
Plans for the future: urban development with an emphasis on environmental care
The city of Ungheni plans to expand and modernize the infrastructure around the lake, focusing on sustainable development and accessibility for all residents. Among the initiatives under preparation. there are:
Development of an eco-tourism route around the lake, with informative panels about the area's flora and fauna;
Setting of eco-friendly lighting and surveillance cameras for public safety;
Creation of spaces for sports and outdoor activities, including a zone for yoga, fitness and cycling;
Educational and ecological volunteer projects dedicated to students and young people from the city;
Rehabilitation of the aquatic ecosystem, with plantings and protection of local species.
Local authorities, in collaboration with international partners, aim to transform Delia Lake into an example of a green urban model – a place that brings together nature, culture and community in harmonious balance.
