In the heart of Moldova, in Magura locality of the village of Mircești, lies Mircești Winery, a vineyard that has successfully combined the tradition of winemaking with modern tourism and community development. The restored manor house in Brâncovenesc style, set among picturesque hills, has become the symbol of the winery, and the region has been dubbed 'Little Tuscany' due to its idyllic landscape and harmony with nature.

Vineyards and Terroir – Ideal Conditions for Quality Wines

The vineyards of Mircești Winery stretch over 15 hectares, at altitudes of 270–340 meters above sea level, providing excellent conditions for grape maturation. The property cultivates 13 grape varieties, used for white, red, late harvest wines and orange, including native varieties.

The wine range 'Bardul din Mircești' is considered the producer's calling card, with an annual production target of 100,000 bottles, exported to Romania, Poland, Canada, China, and Japan.

'We invested in this winery not only to produce quality wines but also to showcase the beauty and traditions of Moldova. Our winery combines a passion for wine with respect for nature and community,' explains the founder of the Winery, Arcadie Foșnea.

Recently, the winery has been equipped with a weather station for monitoring the vineyards, and employees apply modern vine pruning strategies and disease prevention methods.

Tourism and a Complete Experience

Mircești Winery offers a complete tourist experience, designed for wine and nature lovers. Visitors can participate in tastings, dine in the traditional restaurant or on the terrace, and stay in 13 comfortable rooms within the 250 square meters complex.

Tourist services include viticultural tours; visits to local craftsmen; hiking and thematic trails; cultural events and traditional celebrations

In September 2024, the 'Little Tuscany of Moldova' hiking trail was inaugurated, spanning 80 kilometers, linking the winery to the Sculeni border crossing point, offering a unique experience for nature and wine lovers.

Support for Development and Investments

To promote tourism and infrastructure development, Mircești Winery received a grant of 30,000 euros in 2021, as part of the EU4Moldova: Focal Regions program, funded by the European Union and implemented by UNDP and UNICEF.

The funds, supplemented by its contribution, were used to equip 8 hotel rooms with furniture, sanitary equipment, and air conditioners; acquire agricultural equipment for the vineyards; and install a wastewater treatment plant.

The project implementation created at least five new jobs, and now almost 40 residents of Mircești and neighboring localities work as permanent or seasonal employees.

Recognition and Support from the Government

Mircești Winery has become a landmark tourist attraction in Ungheni region, receiving praise during official visits for its economic and cultural impact.

During a recent visit, Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu praised the enterprise.

'The results of your work are evident in the international awards you've won and the growing appreciation from consumers for the wines you produce,' said the Prime Minister.

The government emphasized the importance of maintaining the winemaking tradition and supporting initiatives that bring economic and tourist benefits to the entire region.

Mircești Winery – Model of Success

Mircești Winery represents a model of sustainable local business, combining quality wine production with rural tourism and community development.

Through investments in technology, infrastructure, and employee training, the winery has managed to export wines to five continents, improve the standard of living for the residents of the village and neighboring areas, and promote Moldova internationally as a wine and tourist destination.

With its modern approach and respect for tradition, Mircești Winery continues to be a symbol of Moldovan wines and a tourist attraction for the entire region.
