The Palace of the Republic on December 12 turned into a genuine space of refinement, taste and stories told through wine, hosting the 24th edition of the Wine Vernissage - the winter edition.
The event marked the end of a significant year for the wine sector, a year in which #TheWine of Moldova strengthened its position in international markets and became an increasingly powerful vector for promoting the country's tourism.
The vernissage brought together wine producers, specialists, international partners and wine enthusiasts, in an atmosphere that emphasized results, quality and continuity. Each stand, each glass tasted, spoke of terroir, passion and Moldova as an authentic destination for wine tourism.
Present at the event, Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry Ludmila Catlabuga addressed a message to the guests, including the official delegation led by the Minister of Agriculture from North Macedonia, highlighting the strategic role of wine in the national economy and in the international image of Moldova.
"The year 2025 was an important test for the wine sector. Moldova achieved unprecedented international visibility and the results confirm that we have a well-defined place on the global wine map. Moldovan Wine stays a strategic pillar for exports, tourism, and rural area development," said Ludmila Catlabuga.
The minister urged consumers to support local producers through the Buy GOOD from Home campaign, highlighting the work, responsibility and tradition that underpin Moldovan wine - elements that attract more and more tourists interested in authentic experiences.
For his part, the director of the National Office for Vine and Wine, Stefan Iamandi, referred to the evolution of the Wine Vernissage and the industry's ability to innovate by adapting to new trends and consumer preferences. A highlight of this year's edition was the area dedicated to wines awarded at the fourth edition of the Wine of Moldova Contest, where over 350 samples were evaluated by an international jury, including two holders of the Master of Wine title.
The wines awarded with Gold and Grand Gold were available for public tasting, providing an experience comparable to major European wine exhibitions.
The event was also an occasion to recognize the people contributing to the development and promotion of the sector. The honorary distinction, Knight of Wine, was awarded to Andrian Digolean, State Secretary at the Agriculture and Food Industry Ministry (MAIA), Liliana Dascaliuc, head of the Wine Products and Alcoholic Beverages Directorate at MAIA, and Vladimir Davidescu, general director of a wine company, for their significant contribution to enhancing Moldovan Wine.
The atmosphere of the Vernissage was completed by the stories of the producers, who give meaning to each bottle.
"The Wine Vernissage at home is not just about wine; it's about people, friends and news from the wine world," said Ilie Gogu, from Gogu Winery, contacted by MOLDPRES.
"We make wine from the heart and rejoice when it is appreciated. Come again!" was the message addressed to visitors – an open invitation for tourists discovering Moldova through wine.
The year 2025 was a historic one for the wine sector, with Moldova hosting major global events, such as the 46th World Congress of Vine and Wine and the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles. These achievements confirm that Moldova is not just a wine-producing country, but an emerging tourist destination where wine becomes experience, culture and identity.
The Wine Vernissage thus remains more than an event; it is a calling card of Moldova, open to the entire world.
