Moldovan PM meets US envoy

Chisinau, 7 December /MOLDPRES/- Prime Minister Pavel Filip had a meeting with US Ambassador to Moldova James Pettit. The officials discussed bilateral cooperation in areas of common interest, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.

The sides pointed out the developments recorded in the Transnistrian conflict settlement. In this context, James Pettit appreciated the personal involvement of Filip in this process, stressing that the USA welcomes the progress achieved, including the opening of the bridge over the Dniestre river lining the localities of Gura Bacului and Bicioc, the signing of four protocol decisions governing the fields of education, agriculture and telecommunication, as well as the 5+2 negotiations, recently held in Vienna.

At the same time, the officials approached the implementation of the reforms promoted by government. The premier noted that they are meant to support development of Moldova, and the authorities are always open for dialogue with development partners, civil society and business community to improve the initiatives.

At the end of the meeting, Filip invited Pettit to the Christmas Fair, organized for the first time by government on 15 December-14 January 2018.
