Chisinau, 6 July /MOLDPRES/ - The parliament next week will adopt a decision on the European Parliament’s resolution. Parliament Speaker Andrian Candu has made statements to this effect at the end of the weekly meeting of the Moldovan Democratic Party (PDM).

According to Candu, no matter the decision by the European Parliament, all draft laws will be continued and all commitments and reforms underway will be observed.

“There have been a lot of discussions on the court’s ruling on the invalidation of the local polls; we may criticize, comment on a court decision; but if we try to edify a rule of law state, we must observe the decision and see where we should get involved to amend the legislation, so that such situations no longer occur,” Candu noted.

The official specified that, on the next period, solutions would be identified on parliamentary platform to complete the legislation through the creation of a working group with the attraction of foreign experts. “We have already ensured the expertise support on behalf of the Council of Europe,” Candu said.

On 5 July, the European Parliament adopted a resolution on the political crisis in Moldova as a result of the invalidation of the local polls from Chisinau. The resolution was passed with the votes of 343 MEPs out of 538 ones present in at the meeting.

Under the document, the European Parliament “expresses deep concern about the ruling taken by the Supreme Court of Justice to cancel the results of the elections for the office of Chisinau city mayor and urges the European Commission to suspend both the payments provided for by the macro-financial assistance and the budgetary support for Moldova.”
