Chisinau, 17 December /MOLDPRES/- Deepening the Moldovan-Qatari political dialogue, expanding trade and economic relations, developing cooperation in culture, tourism, education, infrastructure and other issues of mutual interest were discussed yesterday in Doha at a meeting between Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Tudor Ulianovschi and Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Minister of Qatar Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani, the MAEIE’s press service has reported.

The officials have reviewed the current level of bilateral relations, noting their positive dynamics over the last period of time, especially in the commercial-economic sector, given that Doha's diplomat is also director of the Qatar Investment Authority.

However, the sides found that these developments may be even more remarkable if full use of the existing collaboration potential, including through investment projects involving the business environment of both countries, especially in agro-food, infrastructure, commerce, environment, tourism, etc.

The Moldovan official pointed out the value of the bilateral dialogue for both states, and noted that the opening of the first diplomatic mission of our country in the Gulf in 2013 is a demonstration of the importance of the relations between Moldova and Qatar.

For his part, Al-Thani confirmed the willingness of Qatar to deepen bilateral relations, and noted that his country and Moldova have all prerequisites for this goal.

Ulianovschi pays a working visit to Qatar on 15-17 December, and participated in Doha International Forum on shaping policy in an interconnected world, and has scheduled several meetings with the leadership of the country.

The Moldovan official exchanged views on bilateral relations and collaboration within various international and regional organizations with Romanian counterpart, Foreign Minister Teodor Melescanu, Singapore Foreign Affairs Minister Vivian Balakrishnan, Foreign Minister of Japan Taro Kono and other foreign officials.
