Another 50,000 families from Moldova to receive assistance on behalf of government for cold season

Chisinau, 18 January /MOLDPRES/ - Another 50,000 families from Moldova will monthly receive assistance worth 350 lei for the cold season of the year. Presently, about 200,000 families benefit from this support. To increase the number of beneficiaries, the cabinet today approved amendments to the regulation on establishment and payment of the social assistance, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.

The document is meant to increase the social support of disadvantaged families, including the families comprising pensioners with pensions lower than 2,000 lei. Under the draft, the one-off support of 600 lei, which is now provided to pensioners and beneficiaries of state social allocations less than 2,000 lei, will not be taken into account at the calculation of their income.

At the same time, the coefficient of multiplication, applied when establishing the minimum guaranteed monthly income, which gives right to benefit from assistance for the cold season of the year, has been increased from 1.6 to 1.95.

The financial means for the draft’s implementation were seen in the state budget law for 2019.
