Number of 1,453,013 citizens of Moldova participated in 24 February polls

Chisinau, 25 February /MOLDPRES/- A number of 1,453,013 citizens of Moldova participated in the parliamentary elections on 24 February, representing 49.22% of the total number of voters included in the electoral rolls. The head of the Central Electoral Commission, Alina Russu, made the statement today.

Most of them, about 31.75%, were citizens aged over 56 years, 25.63% - of 41-55 years. The most passive 8.5% were youngsters under 25 years of age. Of the total number of voters present at the ballot yesterday, most (53.18%) were women and 46.82% men.

According to preliminary information, the results of candidates in the national constituency are as follows: the Party of Socialists of Moldova - 31.32%, ACUM bloc - 26.41%, Democratic Party - 23.86%, the Shor Party - 8.40%, Party of Communists - 3.76%, Our Party - 2.92%, Liberal Party - 1.24%, Political Party Antimafia Movement - 0.59%, Democracy at Home - 0.31%, Party of Regions of Moldova - 0.26%, National Liberal Party - 0.24%, Green Ecological Party - 0.23%, Hope Movement of Professionals - 0.20%, People's Will Party - 0.19%, Patria Party - 0.07%.

In the uninominal constituencies, most mandates were got by PDM, PSRM and ACUM bloc.

According to the provisions of the electoral legislation, the electoral bureaus have 48 hours from the closure of the polling stations to submit to the CEC the reports on the voting results. Subsequently, the CEC will make summing up within 5 days, then will submit the documents to the Constitutional Court that will confirm or deny the legality of the election. Voter turnout was 57.3%, and in 2010 - 63.4% of the number of voters enrolled in the lists.
