Chisinau, 23 September /MOLDPRES/ - The state secretary at the Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment Ministry, Iuliana Cantaragiu, today participated in a weekly meeting of the Chisinau city hall’s services. She urged the capital’s authorities to undertake concrete actions to solve the problem of Bic river’s pollution.

Iuliana Cantaragiu noted that, in the last years, the situation of the Bic river had worsened and urged actions were needed to settle it. This fact was triggered including by the boosting of the work of the agricultural market from the zone, as well as by the work of traders with construction materials.

Thus, Iuliana Cantaragiu proposed to change the location of the market for selling building materials and set video cameras in the zone, in order to identity and sanction the people who do not preserve cleanliness. At the same time, more drainage tubes were discovered along the Bic river, which would pollute the water. In the context, the state secretary at the Agriculture Ministry suggested to weld and stop these tubes.

The acting general mayor of Chisinau, Adrian Talmaci, warned the Moldovan capital’s residents and guests not to throw waste in the bed of the Bic river.

The Chisinau city hall urged the capital’s residents and economic agents carrying out their activity in the city to keep the areas where they work and the grounds which they manage or own in a salubrious state. The citizens who do not observe these rules run the risk of getting fines. Thus, the violation of the rules ensuring, in the way established by the local public administration authority, cleanliness in urban and rural settlements is sanctioned with fine worth up to 1,800 lei for private people or non-remunerated labour for the community from 20 to 60 hours. Legal entities run the risk to be fined with up to 9,000 lei.
