Twelfth Moldovan National Army's contingent to go to Kosovo on international mission

Chisinau, 9 December /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Ion Chicu today participated in a ceremony on the detaching of the 12th National Army’s contingent on an international peacekeeping mission to Kosovo, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.   

The PM said that, through these servicemen, Moldova contributed to the regional and international security, proving that the country has professional officers, whose education had been tested in operations.  

„These military represent our pride; we respect them and admire their courage. We have the duty to create them the best conditions for education and we will do our utmost to this end,” PM Ion Chicu noted.   

The prime minister wished a safe journey to the soldiers of the peacekeeping mission, assuring them of the confidence put by the current cabinet in the servicemen in charge of promoting Moldova’s image as reliable partner. “We trust your dedication and energy. We are sure that you will act, so that Moldova is associated to such terms as dignity and safety,” the PM stressed.      

Those 40 servicemen during six months will work at the Camp Vilaggio Italia multinational base, placed in the Pech settlement, Kosovo. The decision on detaching National Army military to the KFOR mission was approved by Moldova’s parliament on 1 November 2013 and the first contingent was sent on 8 March 2014.
