Chisinau municipal council approves capital's budget for 2020

Chisinau, 27 December /MOLDPRES/- Chisinau Municipal Council (CMC) approved on 26 December the draft budget of the capital for 2020. The document was supported in two readings with the vote of 40 councilors.

The budget provides revenues of 4.3 billion lei, up by 11.1 percent against this year, and spending 4.6 billion lei, up by 9.4 percent than in 2019. The deficit will be 291.6 million lei.

Most money - 67.4% of the total amount - will be spent on education, culture, health care and social protection. The expenses related to the communal household, the transport and the road management will have a weight of 28,3%. For the program of investments and capital repairs for 2020, 186 162.5 thousand lei are estimated, or 4 percent of the total expenses.

Also at yesterday's meeting, city councilors approved the size of several local taxes that will be applied in 2020. According to the CMC decision, casinos will pay a tax of 500 thousand lei next year, compared to 200 thousand at present. Acting head of the General Directorate of Finance Olesea Pșenițchi said at the CMC meeting that a fee of 250 thousand was set for the gambling halls. At the same time, the commercial units that will sell cigarettes will pay a tax of 10 thousand or 20 thousand lei, depending on the area.
