09:56 | 20.01.2020 Category: Economic

Chisinau, 20 January /MOLDPRES/- The Moldovan government will set up a price monitoring group that will operate under the aegis of the Ministry of Finance.

Today Prime Minister Ion Chicu said that, under the Ministry of Finance, on 20-24 January the price monitoring group will be set up, which will make a weekly analysis of possible price increases.

Referring to the increase in fuel price, Chicu said that the fuel price increase is due to the annual adjustment of prices to excise duties. He noted that Moldova is an importer of fuels and that "we live in a market economy, and the state is not involved in pricing, as in communism."

"ANRE is no longer responsible for regulating fuel prices", he said.
