Chisinau, 1 April /MOLDPRES/ - About 92 per cent of the pupils and students from Moldova are involved in the process of distance education; yet, efforts are made to reach the most disadvantaged young people and children, who have no possibility to access online classes and the internet education platforms or everybody will have possibility of recovery. Education, Culture and Research Minister Igor Sarov made statements to this effect today.

„Neither Moldova, nor other states were sufficiently prepared to cope with the pandemic triggered by COVID-19, including in the educational requirements sector; therefore, we should reduce the handicap on the fly. This sharp change is not easy to be managed and there are a string of technical and logistic deficiencies which must be overcome. We should be aware that, on this complicated period, the functionality of the education system and the carrying out of the curricular plans will be based on common sense, tolerance and understanding,’’ the minister said.

In the context, the official pointed out several goals, which in the emerged conditions, are priority for the Education Ministry (MECC), proceeding from the ensuring, first of all, of the physical and psychological health. Thus, Igor Sarov demanded that the managerial staff do not exert pressure on educators, teachers and professors who have to adapt to other working regime and tasks now.

„The curriculum will be made without making excesses, which would imply children’s presence in front of computers too much time. The MECC decisions will be taken proceeding only from the interests of children, pupils, students and teaching staff,’’ Igor Sarov said.

The minister said that more scenarios would be considered in this respect on the organization and holding national school-leaving examinations and the most rational one would be chosen.

At the same time, the education minister noted that, on the quarantine period triggered by the COVID-19 pandemic, the teachers would be fully remunerated, in line with the decisions of the National Commission for Emergency Situations.

Also, Igor Sarov urged the entire education community from Moldova to observe the instructions of this Commission, in order to overcome the state of emergency declared given the pandemic as soon as possible.

Presently, more than one billion children from 160 states have not to attend schools and resort to the same distance learning procedures, just as in Moldova.
