Chisinau, 11 June /MOLDPRES/ - The Interior Ministry’s (MAI) General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (IGSU) today launched a campaign for the prevention of drowning cases. The campaign will be held in all Moldova’s districts during this summer.
The launch event took place at the Valley of Mills lake from the Chisinau municipality. IGSU employees held here demonstrative exercises by simulating a drowning situation. After the exercise had finished, the IGSU employees distributed informative folders to all people who were resting on beach and spoke them about the observance of the rules for the prevention of drownings.
To avoid drowning cases, IGSU urges the residents to avoid swimming in places non-endowed with rescue stations, as well as in unfriendly weather conditions. At the same time, IGSU employees warn citizens about the danger of the consumption of alcoholic drinks while resting on sides of water basins. Rescuers also highlight the need for adults to monitor children and supervise their behavior during bathing.
IGSU’s statistics shows that ten people, of whom one child, have died in Moldova’s water basins since early 2020.
