Moldovan government decided to increase number of beneficiaries of interest subsidy program

Chisinau, 12 June /MOLDPRES/- The government approved a draft law on amending the interest subsidy program, which provides for the extension of the categories of economic agents due to benefit from the program. It was worked out by the Finance Ministry.

According to Deputy Prime Minister Serghei Pușcuța, Finance Minister, the bill aims to ensure the access of several economic agents with liquidity under the existing crisis and provides additional support solutions. "Due to the need to expand the scope of measures to mitigate the effects of the pandemic crisis, as well as given that lending is carried out not only by commercial banks but also non-bank lending organizations, the project aims to increase the number of beneficiaries of the program, by including entrepreneurs credited by non-bank lending organizations”, he said.

The goals are to broaden the category of economic agents to benefit from the program and increase the amount of credit for which the interest is subsidized.

The project aims at increasing accessibility of financial market actors, as well as those in the real sector of the economy to support instruments to ensure economic recovery.

The financing of the program, which is to provide support to companies contracting loans in the financial sector by compensating the amount of monthly interest rate will be made through the Program of subsidizing interest on loans contracted by economic agents on 1 May 2020 – 31 December 2020 set out in the state budget.
