Moldovan official journal to publish two state documents on beekeeping development

Chisinau, 12 November /MOLDPRES/- The 13 November Official Journal will publish the government's decision to approve the National Program for development of beekeeping in Moldova for 2021-2025 and the Action Plan on its implementation for 2021-2022.

According to the decision, the ministries, other central administrative authorities and public institutions, in collaboration with the relevant associations will ensure within the competencies the implementation of the decision and the Action Plan for the implementation of the National Program. The financing of the actions will be carried out by the responsible authorities from the account and within the means of the state budget and from other financial sources, according to the legislation.

The Ministry of Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment will present to the government annually until February 15 the report on the implementation of the Program / Action Plan.

According to estimates by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the honey production in Moldova reaches over 4.4 million dollars annually and is ranked 54th in the world, calculated on the basis of the average for 2009-2013. During nine years (2011-2019), honey production in Moldova has been increasing, with small fluctuations, registering values from 2.8 to 5.7 thousand tons per year, according to official data. The share of honey production in total agricultural production in the Republic of Moldova reached 0.5% in 2016.
