Moldova's National Office of Vine and Wine has new director

Chisinau, 23 November /MOLDPRES/ - The National Office of Vine and Wine (ONVV) has a new director. Following a contest held by the Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment Ministry (MADRM), Cristina Frolov was elected as head of the institution, with six votes out of eight ones.  

Under an order by MADRM, Cristina Frolov starts working on 23 November 2020 for a four-year mandate.  

In the beginning of her mandate, in a letter sent to all representatives of Moldova’s vine and wine sector, brought together under the country wine brand, Wine of Moldova. A legend alive, the new director set forth the work priorities established for the next period.   

„The wine industry of Moldova goes through a period of changes and the problems we face require much cooperation with all members of the sector. It is necessary that we make more efforts, in order to promote the country wine brand, the effect of which will be the growth of qualitative exports. Moreover, we are set to cooperate, in order to simplify the procedures of export, taxation and certification, of access to subsidies and development funds, attraction of additional investments, due to be used for the environmental protection, for strengthening the image and cope with the competition on the market presented by the cheap wines produced in other countries, where the weather conditions allow producing with much lower costs than in Moldova. In these directions, we will consolidate efforts, as quick and courageous actions are needed to be undertaken and we, representatives of the wine sector, must join efforts and work together for the good of the industry, ‘’ ONVV director Cristina Frolov said.  

Cristina Frolov has acted as manager general of the winery Castel MIMI for eight years. On this period, she managed the entire process of the castle’s restoration, which was subsequently re-brought to the national and regional tourist circulation. Frolov was member of the ONVV Coordination Council, representing the Codru Vine and Wine Association of Delimited Geographical Region and held the office of head of the National Association for Inbound Tourism (ANTRIM). The mission of this organization is to promote the tourism in Moldova.  Cristina Frolov graduated from the Bucharest-based Academy of Economic Studies; she is married and has two children.
