About 60 per cent of schools work with pupils' physical presence in Moldova

Chisinau, 12 May /MOLDPRES/ - As many as 732 (50.03 per cent) of the education institutions work with the physical presence of all pupils in classrooms on 11 May, as a result of a decision by the territorial public health commissions and specialty local bodies. The classes are held with the strict observance of the public health norms as to the prevention and spread of COVID-19 and 46 (3.71 per cent) schools works exclusively online, the Education, Culture and Research Ministry (MECC) has reported.

According to MECC, 141 (11.37per cent) of the schools work with physical participation of pupils in elementary schools, as well as of a contingent of 50 per cent of all the number of pupils from the graduate forms and 321institutions work with the physical presence of pupils from the elementary schools and the pupils of the graduate forms.  

At the same time, on 11 May, because of the increase in the number of cases of infection with Covid 19, one school and 17 classes from Moldova were placed in quarantine and carry out the education process online.  

„There are 36 pupils positively tested for COVID-19 in the elementary schools, gymnasiums and lyceums and 460 were placed in self-isolation regime. Forty five  teachers were confirmed positive with the new-type coronavirus and 34 ones are in self-isolation. A number of 32 people out of the non-didactic and auxiliary staff were infected with the new virus and another ten are in self-isolation,’’ the Education Ministry said.

As for the vocational education, 3 pupils, 6 teachers and 3 people of other staff categories were positively confirmed with the Sars-Cov-2 virus on 11 May.

As far as the early education is concerned, 5 kindergartens and 304 children’s groups are in quarantine. There are ten children confirmed positive with the COVID-19 virus and another 805 are in self-isolation. At the same time, 45 teachers were confirmed positive with the new-type coronavirus and 72 are in self-isolation. A number of 43 people out of the non-didactic and auxiliary staff were infected with Covid-19 and another 87 are in self-isolation, according to MECC.  

The Education, Culture and Research Ministry reiterates the urge to the managers of education institutions, teachers and pupils to further observe all protection measures against the COVID-19 virus.
